Colfosco belongs to the municipality of Corvara and counts 531 inhabitants, most people who live here speak ladin as mother language. Beside, it concerns the oldest language in the area of the Dolomites generally and Colfosco is the most highly situated place of the Dolomites-holiday's region of Alta Badia on 1. 645 m of sea level. It is the ideal starting point for mountain hikes, climbing and all alpine sports.
This small place lies at the feet of the Passo Gardena, where also the typical and picturesque gothic church is. In the background the precipient cliff faces of the Sellagruppe and the panorama in the Passo Gardena. In summer there are may excursions to do, for example, in the nearby situated Edelweiss valley, you can reach the nature reserve Puez-Geisler.In the Sella massif there is the climbing steep path Pisciadù-Tridentina and the famous Val Mezdì valley which is skiable in winter for the best freeride skier. It is a village where a huge number of traditions and customs from old time, have been preserved.
